Genre
What is Genre?
Genre is any category of literature or other forms of art or entertainment, e.g. music, whether written or spoken, audial or visual, based on some set of stylistic criteria. Genres are formed by conventions that change over time as new genres are invented and the use of old ones are discontinued. Often, works fit into multiple genres by way of borrowing and recombining these conventions. for example

3rd Rock Revolution: Put on Ya Boots
Blues, Funck, Rock
Funk Rock
Funk Rock is a music genre that fuses funk and rock elements.Little Richard and his The Upsetters have been credited for being the first to put the funk in the rock and roll beat together. Funk rock's earliest incarnation on record was heard in the late 1960s through the mid-1970s by acts such as the Jimi Hendrix , Ike and Tina Turner, Black Merda, Parliament-Funkadelic, Betty Davis and Mother's Finest. During the late 1980s and 1990s funk rock music experienced a surge in popularity, with bands such as Rage Against the Machine, Incubus, Infectious Grooves, Red Hot Chili Pepper started mixing funk rock with many different genres, most notably heavy metal, hip hop, experimental music and punk rock, with this leading to the emergence of the funk rock subgenre funk metal.Blues Rock
Blues rock is a musical genre combining elements of blues and rock.
It is mostly an electric style music with instrumentation
similar to blues and rock. From its beginnings in the early to
mid 1960s, blues rock has gone through several stylistic shifts and
along the way inspired hard rock, Southern rock, and heavy metal. Blues rock continues to be an influence, with performances and recordings by several popular artists. While rock and blues have historically always been closely linked, and electric guitar techniques such as distortion and power chords were already used by 1950s blues guitarists blues rock as its own genre did not rise until the late 1960s. shot by shot cutting to the beat

(MS-B) Black and white effect.
This is a mid shot of Beyonce saying ‘Intimacy’. They have
done this because while she is saying ‘Intimacy’ Beyonce is made to look stern.
This makes her look more masculine as the song is about an androgynous female.
This is a mid shot of a male saying ‘honesty’. This has been
done to show the innocence in the man’s face. This has also been done because
the song is meant to emasculate women and give the man the stereotypical role of
a woman in a relationship.
This is mid shot of Beyonce saying ‘commitment’.
This has againg been done with Beyonce looking stern making her look more
aggressive, making her look more powerful.
(MS-M) Black and white
effect.
This is a mid shot of the male saying ‘You’. This has been done
to show the emotion in his face while he says ‘you’.
(CU-B) Black and white
effect.
This is a close up of Beyonce saying ‘me’. This has been done to show Beyoncé’s facial
expression which is fairly aggressive. This makes her seem more masculine which
is a direct link to the song ‘If I was a
boy’
(MS-B) (Inside a room) Black
and white effect.
This is a mid-shot of Beyoncé in the process of putting
clothes on. This follows the Laura
Mulvey’s theory on the male gaze. By showing Beyonce in the process of getting
changed it suggests that it is vital for men to witness this because women are
seen as objects that should be stared at.
(LS-M) (BT-M) Black and white
effect
This is a mid-shot of
the male doing the domestic job of cooking breakfast that is stereotypically a
job for women. This is linking to the title of the song because the male and
female roles have been changed in the song.
(LS-BM) (BT-B) Black and
white effect.
This is a long shot of the man attempting to have breakfast
with the woman. This shows the man
trying to be more involved in the relationship however the woman is too
dedicated t her job. This is again the role of men and women being changed in
the song. Also the chaotic table may be a reflection of their relationship and one person sat down may show who in the relationship is making the most effort.
(MS-M) (BT-B) Black and white
effect.
This is a close up of the man’s reaction of being left at
the table by the woman. His has been done to show the disappointment in the man
face as he tries to revive his relationship with the woman.
(MS-B) Black and white effect.
This is a mid-shot of Beyoncé completing her work outfit.
This has been done to show to further emphasise the lyric ‘Throw on what I
wanted and go’. This further shows her independence as she can do whatever she
wants. The shot also stereotypes women because it shows that she cares about
the way she looks, which reinforces the stereotype of women caring about her appearance.
(MS-M) (BT-B) Black and white
effect.
This is a mid-shot of the man. This has been done to show
the concern on his face, this also shows his loneliness and shows how he is the
only person in the relationship.
(MS-B) (BO-leaving house) Black
and white effect.
This is a mid-shot of Beyoncé about to leave the house this
also reinforces the lyric ‘I wanted and go’. Beyoncé leaves with a stern face
making her seem more aggressive.
